Adjunct Faculty Scheme
Indian Council of Medical Research conducts and promotes biomedical research through intramural as well as extramural grants with Scientists working at headquarters and nation-wide network of 27 institutes.
ICMR aims to liaison with researchers/faculties whoso ever has expertise in their respective discipline to effectively contribute to mandate and efforts of ICMR. In order to effectively implement the same, it is proposed to invite the researchers/faculties from other national & international organizations to get associated with ICMR, through the Adjunct Faculty program.
To encourage collaboration with various national & international institutions, so as to mutually share the knowledge and to leverage the expertise of Scientists in the field of biomedical research
Categories: There will be two level engagements for the ICMR Adjunct Faculty:
Group A: Senior level researchers/scientists of Professor and above level
Group B: Mid-level researchers/scientists of Associate Professor level
Initially the tenure will be for one term i.e. three years. It may be extended for another term of three years based on the outcome of the collaborative efforts/activities carried out
The Adjunct Faculty will continue to work in their host institute.
They are required to spend at least two weeks every year continuously at ICMR, the duration can be extended on case to case basis with due approval by the Competent Authority of ICMR.
he Adjunct Faculty will be given Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) @ INR 2000/- for the duration of stay at ICMR/ICMR institutes/centres.
Accommodation as per availability at ICMR/ICMR Institute guest house will be provided.
The outstation Faculty will be provided to and fro airfare (only within India).
The international Adjunct Faculty will have to bear their own travel expenses to India.
There is no provision of honorarium for the Adjunct Faculty.
Indian scientists/professionals (Indian NRI/OCI/PIO card holders are also eligible) who have a regular employment in Medical /Research /Universities/Colleges/recognized Research & Development laboratories/Government and semi-government organizations and NGOs in India and abroad, will be eligible to apply.
Age criteria: Max. age limit is 65 years
Applicant should submit the application in the prescribed format along with Annexure-1 Application should be forwarded by the Head of the organization host institute/organization.
The applications will be reviewed by a Committee of Experts constituted by the DG, ICMR and based on the recommendations, the DG, ICMR will finalise the list in consultation with relevant Director/Director-in-Charge/Head of the division at headquarters.
Annual performance review of the Adjunct Faculty will be done by host institute Director and after the three year tenure review of performance will be done by the Selection Committee at ICMR HQ-HRD.
